The General Superintendent for GMi is a key component in the company's overall success. This integral position is responsible for overseeing all aspects that relate directly to the field and the general success of a project, with the three key components being SAFETY, QUALITY, & PERFORMANCE. What You'll Do
- Lead and enforce safety standards across assigned projects, conducting audits, verifying certifications, coordinating inspections, and partnering with company leadership to maintain a proactive safety culture.
- Oversee and implement the Quality Control Program, ensuring all work meets contract documents, specifications, and GMI standards — with full accountability for final project quality and client acceptance.
- Conduct routine audits of Superintendents and Foremen to verify safety compliance, quality installation, documentation accuracy, and hazard analysis reporting.
- Drive project success from kickoff through completion by aligning field leadership with budgets, scope, sequencing, manpower plans, production goals, and scheduling requirements.
- Monitor and protect project profitability by tracking unit costs, percent-complete progress, material usage, labor efficiency, and time coding accuracy.
- Implement and maintain production tracking tools to ensure projects remain on budget and on schedule.
- Build and assign effective field teams in collaboration with senior leadership, ensuring proper supervision coverage and workforce planning.
- Manage manpower strategically to avoid inefficiencies, unnecessary overtime, and productivity gaps.
- Oversee payroll audits, hiring approvals, labor rate alignment, and workforce performance evaluations.
- Ensure full compliance with contract documents, company standards, and operational procedures across all assigned projects.
- Maintain oversight of personnel, equipment, materials, subcontractors, vendors, and documentation.
- Build strong working relationships with General Contractors to support customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Identify problems early and take decisive action to protect safety, quality, schedule, and profitability.
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in the construction field, specifically the drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceiling, and exterior cladding trades.
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Proven ability to manage construction crews
- Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish
- Knowledge of construction safety protocols and regulations
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications
- Experience with budget management and cost control
- Effective management and leadership experience as it pertains to managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
- Relevant certifications and licenses in construction management a plus
